How the CCI Indicator Works

Desviación de precio, momentum y extremos

The Commodity Channel Index (CCI) measures how far price deviates from its statistical mean. Traders use it to spot strong positive or negative deviations, momentum expansion, and potential extreme conditions — especially when readings stretch toward the +100 and −100 thresholds.

CCI +100 and −100 Levels

CCI readings above +100 indicate unusually strong positive deviation from the mean; readings below −100 indicate unusually strong negative deviation. These levels are not automatic reversal signals in every strategy — interpretation depends on trend context. On TradeAnalyzer.Pro, they serve as exhaustion thresholds for screener classification.

Lógica de señales: mean reversion en extremos

TradeAnalyzer.Pro treats strong positive and negative CCI deviations as potential exhaustion conditions. When CCI reads above +100, markets may be classified as SHORT; when CCI reads below −100, markets may be classified as LONG — reflecting a mean-reversion approach to extreme deviations, not automatic trend continuation.

Live CCI vs. Active Signal

The table shows the current CCI reading alongside the active LONG or SHORT classification. A market can remain classified as SHORT after CCI crossed above +100 even if the live reading has mean-reverted toward zero (e.g. CCI 82 while still SHORT). The signal-detected column marks when the threshold classification last changed — not when the page was loaded.

Multi-Timeframe Confirmation (15m, 1h, 4h, 1d)

Lower timeframes help identify early extreme readings; higher timeframes provide regime context. A robust CCI workflow often compares at least two timeframes before acting on a signal.

Flujo de research: Filtrar → Escanear → Validar

Combine CCI with the indicator filter and the Forex screener for multi-indicator confirmation. Validate macro context using market status, compare candidates using Compare, and cross-check RSI, Stochastic, and VWAP Screener.

Key features:
  • CCI threshold & deviation analysis
  • Multi-timeframe screening (15m, 1h, 4h, 1d)
  • Fast symbol search
  • Screening CCI ao vivo

CCI FAQ

CCI (Commodity Channel Index) measures how far price deviates from its statistical mean. Forex traders use it to identify strong positive or negative deviations and potential extreme conditions across multiple timeframes.

+100 marks unusually strong positive deviation from the mean; −100 marks unusually strong negative deviation. Depending on strategy, these can indicate momentum expansion or potential exhaustion — TradeAnalyzer.Pro uses them as screener thresholds.

Not always. In trend-following strategies, +100 can signal strong bullish momentum. In mean-reversion strategies, it may suggest an overextended market. TradeAnalyzer.Pro classifies CCI above +100 as a potential SHORT candidate using a mean-reversion framework.

Similarly, −100 can mean strong bearish momentum in trend strategies, or potential oversold exhaustion in mean-reversion setups. This screener treats deeply negative CCI readings as potential LONG candidates.

On TradeAnalyzer.Pro, CCI below −100 may contribute to LONG classifications and CCI above +100 may contribute to SHORT classifications — reflecting potential exhaustion at statistical extremes. Confirm with higher timeframes and complementary indicators.

Use 15m for active intraday scanning, 1h and 4h for swing context, and daily CCI for higher-timeframe bias. Aligning multiple timeframes often produces more robust signals.

CCI values refresh with live market data. The signal-detected column shows when the CCI threshold classification last changed — not when the page was loaded.

Yes. Combine CCI with the indicator filter and Forex screener, and use market status for macro context. RSI and Stochastic are especially useful for confirming extreme conditions.
