The Commodity Channel Index (CCI) is a momentum oscillator that measures how far price deviates from its average. Traders use it to spot momentum expansions, pullbacks, and potential overbought/oversold conditions when combined with trend context.
Long setups often appear when CCI breaks above +100 (bullish momentum expansion). Short setups often appear when CCI breaks below -100 (bearish expansion). In ranging markets, traders often look for CCI to revert back from extremes to mean; in trending markets, they focus on continuation after pullbacks.
Use lower timeframes for timing and higher timeframes to confirm the regime. Aligning 1h and 4h CCI direction often reduces noise compared to using only 15m signals.
