About Chromia

Chromia is an open-source public blockchain developed by Chromaway AB, a Swedish technology company. Launched in May 2019, the Chroma token (CHR) serves as the native cryptocurrency of this innovative platform. Chromia builds upon the foundational technology of Postchain, which was originally designed for enterprise applications. The blockchain operates as a standalone Layer-1 solution while also providing EVM compatibility as a Layer-2 enhancement for both Binance Smart Chain and Ethereum. This dual functionality aims to improve the scalability and data management capabilities of decentralized applications (dApps), enabling the development of more advanced applications. At the core of Chromia's architecture is a unique relational blockchain model, complemented by a custom programming language known as Rell. Rell is designed to resemble SQL, allowing developers to efficiently manage data while benefiting from the security features inherent to blockchain technology. Each dApp on Chromia operates on its own sidechain, which is linked to the main blockchain, facilitating better scalability and offering developers flexible fee structures. This flexibility allows for various monetization strategies, such as transaction fees in CHR or staking options that enable unlimited transactions for users.
