The EMA trend compares a fast EMA (9) with a slower EMA (34). When EMA 9 is above EMA 34 and price trades above both, the short-term trend is considered bullish. When EMA 9 is below EMA 34 and price trades below both, the trend is considered bearish.
EMA 50 provides broader trend context alongside the faster EMA 9 and EMA 34 relationship. Price above EMA 50 can support a bullish trend interpretation, while price below EMA 50 can indicate weaker or bearish broader structure.
EMA 9 vs EMA 34 % measures the percentage distance between the fast EMA 9 and slower EMA 34. Positive values indicate EMA 9 is above EMA 34; negative values indicate EMA 9 is below EMA 34. Larger absolute distances can indicate stronger separation between the two moving averages.
A fresh EMA trend change occurs when EMA 9 moves through EMA 34 and the new relationship remains established. These fresh crosses can highlight markets where short-term trend structure has recently changed — the screener marks recent cross events with a NEW badge.
Use 15m for entries, 1h and 4h to confirm the swing trend, and 1d to verify the higher-timeframe regime. When EMA trend is aligned across multiple timeframes, the signal is usually stronger.
