How the Momentum Indicator Works

Price Momentum & Directional Strength

In Forex markets, momentum compares the current price with a previous period to show directional strength and the magnitude of price movement.

Momentum %

Momentum % shows the relative price change associated with the current momentum reading. Positive values indicate upward momentum; negative values indicate downward momentum on FX charts.

Signal Logic: Expansion vs. Exhaustion

Positive momentum can indicate expanding upside pressure, while weakening or negative momentum can indicate fading strength. Combine with market structure for cleaner timing.

Multi-Timeframe Confirmation

Aligning 15m, 1h, 4h, and 1d often produces cleaner and more actionable signals across major pairs.

Research Workflow: Filter → Screen → Validate

Combine Momentum with the indicator filter and the Forex screener. Validate market context with market status, compare candidates in Compare, and cross-check with MACD, RSI, and Supertrend.

Key features:
  • Price, Momentum & momentum % columns
  • Multi-timeframe signal detection
  • Fast symbol search
  • Live momentum signal screening

Momentum FAQ

Momentum compares the current price with a prior period to measure price momentum and directional strength on major FX pairs and gold.

Long setups often appear when momentum strengthens with supportive structure. Short setups appear when momentum weakens and key levels fail. Confirm across multiple timeframes.

Momentum % shows relative price change on the selected timeframe. Positive values indicate upward momentum; negative values indicate downward momentum.

Positive momentum suggests upside pressure is building relative to the prior period on that FX or gold timeframe.

Negative momentum suggests downside pressure is building until price action stabilizes or reverses.

Use 15m for active scanning, 1h and 4h for intraday context, and daily momentum for higher-timeframe bias on FX.

Momentum values refresh with live market data. The signal-detected column reflects the last momentum signal change, not page load time.

Yes. Combine momentum with the indicator filter and Forex screener, and validate context with market status.

Research Limitations & FAQ

These indicator boards are research tools. Readings describe conditions on a scheduled snapshot—they are not trade signals, predictions, or personalized advice.

Tool note: Momentum readings can persist or fade abruptly—use with structure and higher-timeframe bias.

  • Research, not signals: Table readings are informational context for screening—not buy/sell instructions.
  • Lagging & descriptive: Most indicators describe recent price/volume history. They do not guarantee future direction.
  • Confirm on Chart: Cross-check multi-timeframe (15m / 1h / 4h / 1d) on the live Chart before acting on any idea.
  • Snapshot cadence: Crypto indicator tools refresh on the research pipeline (~5 minutes); Markets/FX ~15 minutes—not a tick stream.
  • Data limits: Feeds can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong. Treat derived fields as best-effort research inputs.
  • No advice / no internals: Not investment advice. We do not publish proprietary formula internals or win-rate promises.
